Using our FTP Service

WHAT IS FTP?
FTP is short for File Tranfer Protocol, which is a method of transmitting files from one computer to another via the internet.

WHERE AM I SENDING MY FILES?
We use a service called My Order Desk from PagePath Systems to handle the transmission and reception of customer files. When you click the link to send us your files, you are taken to our area of the My Order Desk site where you can upload files to their server. They immediately notify us via e-mail and we download your files to our production machines here in the store.

WHY NOT JUST USE E-MAIL?
First, we are able to employ custom work orders using My Order Desk. These ensure that important information is requested and that we have a clear picture of the work to be completed when we download the job.

Many of the files that we receive are too large to be sent to our e-mail box. Files would quickly exceed even the largest of e-mail accounts and jobs would be returned and possibly lost.

WHAT DO I NEED?
Pagepath uses an application called "LAUNCH" to facilitate the compression and FTP transmission
of your files. You will have to download this file in order to use the service.

They also provide a driver which allows you to print directly to their FTP server. When using this printer, you simply print your document and the driver will prepare the file for transmission and call up your web browser to the online work order. This driver is not necessary, but a valuable option.

WHAT WILL I HAVE TO DO?
In addition to downloading the small helper application, you will need to fill out a brief customer registration. This only has to be done once and the information will be stored and transmitted to us each time you submit a file.
